Can wallpaper be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?

Most wallpaper damage can be repaired. Lifting seams, peeling corners, bubbles and small tears are usually simple fixes. If the damage covers a large area or the paper is brittle and faded, replacement may be the better choice, and I will tell you honestly.

How much does wallpaper repair cost?

It depends on the size and type of damage, whether matching paper is available and whether the wall underneath needs work. I give you a free estimate after seeing the damage, in person or from photos.

Why is my wallpaper peeling at the seams?

Seams usually lift because of humidity, dried-out adhesive, a wall that was not primed properly or paper that was overstretched when it was hung. I re-glue the seam with the right adhesive and address the cause when I can, so it stays down.

Can you fix bubbles in wallpaper?

Yes. Bubbles are usually trapped air or adhesive that did not bond. I release the air, add adhesive behind the paper and smooth it flat so the surface looks even again.

Can you patch a tear or hole in wallpaper?

Yes. I cut a patch from leftover paper and line it up with the pattern so it blends in. If you saved extra rolls from your original installation, keep them handy: they make a wallpaper repair nearly invisible.

What if I do not have leftover wallpaper?

Sometimes I can take matching paper from a hidden spot, like behind a large piece of furniture or inside a closet, or help you look for the same pattern. If a match is not possible, we can talk about replacing a single wall instead.

Can you repair water-damaged wallpaper?

It depends on how much the paper and the wall were affected. Once the leak is fixed and the wall is completely dry, I can often re-adhere and patch the paper. Stained or crumbling areas may need a new section or a new wall.

Do you offer wallpaper repair outside Columbus?

Yes. I offer wallpaper repair in Columbus and nearby Central Ohio communities, including New Albany, Westerville, Gahanna, Upper Arlington and Bexley.

How do I get an estimate for wallpaper repair?
